Taking agnès films to Conferences This Fall

agnès films co-founders Alexandra Hidalgo and Caitlan Spronk will be giving presentations about our website at two conferences this October. Our first presentation and official unveiling of agnès films will be at the Midwest Pop Culture Association/American Culture Association Conference in Minneapolis. Alex will deliver “Convincing Female Filmmakers to Write About their Work: The Ups and Downs of Creating agnesfilms.com.” This presentation will look at the process of bringing the interests of filmmakers and academics together in one place and the joys and complications of establishing a community of filmmakers.  Cait’s presentation, “The Making of agnesfilms.com:  Creating a Usable Community Website for Female Filmmakers,” will focus on the kinds of choices we made to create a user-friendly and interactive site for our community.

Two weeks after our visit to Minneapolis, we’ll go to Louisville for The Watson Conference, where Cait and Alex will present “Crafting agnesfilms.com, a Born Digital Archive for Female Filmmakers.”  In this talk, we will look at agnès films’ function as a digital archive for websites that can help emerging and established filmmakers better navigate the demands of their craft, as well as give visibility to female filmmakers’ work.

We are looking forward to the discussion that will be generated by these presentations and to welcoming new members to our community.
