Submissions Now Open for The 2021 Screen & Story Film Festival
The Screen & Story Film Festival is bringing its second virtual edition from 15 to 25 September 2021. The festival directors and programming team are pleased to announce the global open call for submissions for the 2021 Screen & Story Film Festival will open from Monday 10th May 2021.
The Screen and Story Film Festival is a free open global festival giving filmmakers a platform to showcase their stories to diverse audiences across the world. Our first edition opened as a result of the pandemic in 2020 with our first virtual edition featuring 21 shorts from 10 different countries. The festival is run by like minded volunteers from different sectors of the professional film community all working towards one common mission: to enhance and empower global filmmakers and writers around the world, giving a platform to all in-discriminative of location, race, sexuality, gender, religion, disability or socio-economic background, with no exceptions.
Following a highly successful inaugural online edition in 2020, which featured 21 shorts from 10 different countries, the festival is expanding to a 10-day programme as well as running an extensive live event programme and screenplay competition.
Festival Director, Jordan Lonsdale said; “This is an open call where the festival is seeking shorts, features, animations and documentaries from around the globe from any genre or theme. This year the festival is particularly interested in submissions that feature stories around sustainability, technology, disabilities, affection, humour and self.”
This year the festival also launches the inaugural Screen & Story Screenplay Competition.
Fernanda Franco, Festival Director said; “This is an opportunity to discover, promote and celebrate the work of international writers as well as to create and nurture outstanding storytelling. This fresh initiative of having a screenwriting contest will sit alongside our expanded film programme combined with a full range of industry leading events. The festival is a free open global festival giving filmmakers a platform to showcase their stories to diverse audiences across the world.”
The festival introduces its awards for the first time. Films entered through open submissions will be eligible for a selection of awards to be announced at a later date. A global jury of industry leaders will be invited to select their favourite films and screenplays. The festival will also invite the festival audience to vote for their favourite films for an audience award. Screenplays entered through open submissions will be eligible for Outstanding Short Screenplay, Outstanding Feature Screenplay and Outstanding TV Screenplay.
The final deadline for film and screenplay submissions is Sunday 11 July at 11:59pm BST. Click here for full terms and conditions for submissions.
